The path of service to others

As this Planet moves from third into fourth density, the call to be of service to others becomes stronger for many of us. All spiritual seekers are longing for peace, a new world where humanity is based on true cooperation, rather than manipulation. In the desire to be of help, we start wondering as to which is the best way to have a positive impact and alleviate the suffering of mankind.

During these times of awakening, as we approach the Shift in planetary consciousness, it becomes clearer each day that now is the time to make a choice. The purpose of living in third density is to polarize one way or the other, to choose to be either of Service to Self (STS – negative polarity), or of Service to Others (STO – positive polarity), in full respect of the Law of Free Will. Either way, it is a conscious choice embraced by the Infinite Creator with unconditional love.

While I was pondering about the different nature of the two services, many questions arose, in the attempt to have a clear understanding on the subject. I have always associated service to others as actively helping out, volunteering, producing actions with tangible results in the relief of suffering. More importantly, where do practices that don’t involve dynamic interaction with mankind fit in? Is meditation and inner work to improve one’s Self and working on one’s own liberation, while being removed from society, more of service to self, compared to helping an old lady cross the street or volunteering in an orphanage?

While there are people out there willing to be of practical help, and are devoted to soothing other Beings, there are also many spiritual seekers who have a tendency to live a life of contemplation, have a hard time exposing themselves to the coarse energies of third density. They work on their spiritual path and their own level of consciousness. Personally, I recognize myself more in the latter category. While it is true that there is a call to share one’s spiritual insights so that they may help others on a similar path – which comes natural with the realization that we are all One – the question arises if a higher percentage of active participation has an impact in defining the choice of the positive path. Have I done enough? Could I be doing more to help others? Am I being selfish in sitting here and meditating, while the world around me is suffering? What is the best way to perform Service to Others? No doubt about it, the urge to help increases, as time runs faster and culminates in the Shift.

In my quest to understand the implications of each choice, I have come to conclusions that I hope may help you in defining where you are at.

Service to Self and Loving your Self

We have heard it many times that you cannot truly love others unless you truly love yourself. Because we are all One, if you love yourself, you also love others (other-selves). There is a big difference between operating from a perspective of Service to Self, and of Love toward the Self. STS lacks love and is practiced through manipulation and control of others for the purpose of self-gain. It sees other beings as separate entities to be taken advantage of, like pawns on a chess board. The modus operandi is that of pleasing the Self through increase of power, greed, exploitation for its own agenda, with no consideration for the feeling of other beings. It is the negative path of complete separation and alienation.

In minor ways, often coexisting with the positive path, STS is the workings of the Ego-Self. For example, because I feel hurt, I want you to change. However, these minor aspects (as compared to the enslavement and manipulation on a larger scale), are part of the lessons we go through in the evolution of our consciousness. Those who are positively oriented, will strive to work on themselves to transcend the Ego.

Meditation, spiritual inner work, and contemplation operate from a perspective of Love. Improving oneself helps improve mankind as a whole. When having reached Inner Wisdom, one has reached a place where they can truly help other beings along the path. The Buddha himself – The Enlightened One – removed himself from society to attain enlightenment, before he taught the Noble Path to others. As we will see, our contribution in raising the consciousness of the Planet can be accomplished in many ways.

Being of Service to Others

An individual who has chosen the positive polarity, or the path of Service to Others, operates from the understanding that there is no separation. Harming another being, harms your very Self, because ultimately there are no Others. All other beings are seen as other-selves, and these other beings are seen through the eyes of compassion and unconditional love (including all negative beings as well).

The words of Ra, through the Law of One, describe Service to Others this way, in replying to a question:

Questioner: If an entity wants to be of service to others rather than service to self while he is in this third density, are there “best ways” of being of service to others, or is any way just as good as any other way?

Ra: I am Ra. The best way to be of service to others has been explicitly covered in previous material. We will iterate briefly.

The best way of service to others is the constant attempt to seek to share the love of the Creator as it is known to the inner self. This involves self knowledge and the ability to open the self to the other-self without hesitation. This involves, shall we say, radiating that which is the essence or the heart of the mind/body/spirit complex.

Speaking to the intention of your question, the best way for each seeker in third density to be of service to others is unique to that mind/body/spirit complex. This means that the mind/body/spirit complex must then seek within itself the intelligence of its own discernment as to the way it may best serve other-selves. This will be different for each. There is no best. There is no generalization. Nothing is known.

The constant attempt to seek to share the love of the Creator can be done in different ways for each individual. For some it will be through action in society (healers, teachers, activists, and so on), for others it will be through radiating Love through their Being, helping raise collective consciousness through their own vibration. Both approaches are necessary and valuable, they just have a positive impact on different levels. One is a physical approach, the other one is metaphysical. Both have immense value and luckily there is a mix of the two operating worldwide. One could do either one, or both, according to their own discernment. Many regular jobs, when performed with integrity and love, are of service to others. Think of the grocery clerk, smiling to the customers, and adding a ray of light to their day, while helping them to get the products they need for their household and kids.

Scott Mandelker describes this greatly in his article The Primary Service, as he approaches the topic from a Wanderer’s perspective. He also shares other important passages from the Law of One, which shed clear light on the concept of radiating Love. He explains:

So when we come to “the primary service”, I believe it is simply to share our radiance, without artifice or control. It doesn’t matter if we speak, write, or leave our home — although those things in self-balancing. What really counts is the light we emit. Striving to serve is unneeded we serve our being, and our being is what is served to the world. Sure, we can work in this field or that, but what really needs attention is that which radiates through the entire world system, silently and without any effort at all: the quality of energy and consciousness of our own body/mind/spirit system.

You can access the article by going directly to his site. At the bottom of the page, click on “Articles”. You will find some great material, including The Primary Service article (I cannot link directly there, because of how the links are set up showing always the main URL).

Dr. Jordan Paul gives great examples of the inner attitude and reaction to circumstances that define the difference between a service to self or service to others mentality, in his article Being of Service. I believe that his real life examples are extremely helpful in fine-tuning our awareness of being of service to others, rather than putting the demands of our own Ego first, when finding ourselves in less harmonious situations.

Radiating you inner Light

No matter how you go about implementing your Service to Others, when you have chosen the positive path, you will be directed to the best way for you to share your Love and your inner Light. Your very Being is raising collective consciousness in this very moment. Your quest for Truth, your desire for a better and loving world has more radiating power than you can imagine, casting a glowing light over the sea of spiritual indifference. We are all One!

Hi Palma. Great post as usual! I couldn’t agree with you more. The key is to stay “Close” to the Creator in meditation and to open ourselves to our Higher Selves with a Loving Desire for Inner and Outward Truth. I like to visualize a great white light shining through the Seven Colour Rays of my being , illuminating the Red, Orange, Yellow and then the Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet, with a longing to my Higher Self for maximum brilliance and balance. I leave the Work to Him and then I move through my day focused as much as I can on the Creator.

I find that by doing this I automatically bring a positive approach to every social setting and I know that it has a Positive effect on the conscious and unconscious realms. If we approach service to others like this we act as a great Lightning Rod of a sort in which Intelligent Energy can flow.

Thanks again for the Inspiring post. We must be on the same Frequency because I’ve been pondering this issue as well. Desire for Truth is always satisfied and we should feel so fortunate that We are all a Part and One in the Creator. I’m looking forward to a time with the Veil will come down and Smiling Faces will be everywhere.

Hi Marty – I love your visualization method, a great way to energize and balance your Chakras! I will try it myself.

Great analogy with the Lightning Rod. Intelligent Energy flows through us, spreading through the network of all the Beings who radiate it. I sometimes wondered how Planet Earth would be seen from the other densities, by reading the level of radiance. I imagine it would be something like when you are flying at high altitude at night, and when you look out of the airplane window you see all the glowing lights of the towns across a country. As more people start radiating Love, as more Inner Lights are lit each time we discover a Truth, the intensity of that Light must be quite a view! :-)

Your post as challenges as comforts. The spiritual indifference hurts the most indeed – robs us of meaning for live. While many around are concerned just with their personal survival, you return back the hope for the dawn. Thank you for the words that pierced deeply into my heart. My response will be my life without fear for the darkness underfoot.
You end your post with the glorious statement, We are all One!

Hi.. helping others will generate positive energy and karma for the giver. I know a lot of people who live for themselves. They don’t believe in karma and they definitely don’t believe in a higher being. Not sure why but it seems like people are becoming less and less religious which is sad. I enjoy reading your post, very inspirational.
