Seeking mindfulness and finding the heart of humanity

Quite often, to convey a powerful message that will touch one’s heart deeply, just a few words and images are all it takes. The human heart speaks the universal language of love, and knows how and where to look for it. In that moment, an instant is transformed into eternity, and the entire Universe vibrates along with it.

Today, I came across Mindfulness, a very nice and inspiring blog by Ozzie Gontang, and his post A Mindful Cell Phone. Since I have a section with cell phone wallpaper downloads, around the concept of phone mindfulness, I was intrigued. What I found, was the wonderful video “Mankind Is No Island” by Jason van Genderen, shot entirely on a mobile phone. This amazing video has opened my heart, and will stay in my memories for quite a while.

“Mankind Is No Island” spoke to me on three levels:

  1. We are all connected

We are all connected to each other, no matter who we are and where we live. We are global consciousness, breathing awareness from the same Universe. When we are mindful and aware of how the rest of mankind is doing around us, we are mindful and aware of ourselves. The crowd on the streets, the strangers that cross our path, the less fortunate. They are us, and we are them.

  2. Signs are everywhere

To a mindful eye, the signs for reading words of love, inspiration, compassion, are everywhere, often times hidden between many others. When we learn to read through the lines, we can interpret this world in a different and more conscious way.

The Universe speaks to us in mysterious ways. I often have fun picking what I call “the magic billboards”. They are on the surface plain advertising, but many of them have some special words, a hidden inspiring message, something that the Universe in that moment wants you to know. If you keep a conscious eye and an open mind, you will see so many things that are normally hidden beneath the surface. It will be almost like having an open conversation with your Higher Self.

  3. Art is Love

When Art is Love, and Love is Higher Consciousness… There is so much that a creative mind can offer to humanity. A simple, yet powerful concept can talk to mankind in such powerful ways, through the beauty of poetry, imagery, and music. Art aims at the heart, and it raises the vibrations of collective consciousness.

What are your thoughts on this video? Do you read signs on the roads and billboards? Do you find love hidden everywhere? Are you mindfully connected to all mankind?

Palma

I’ve seen a few signs like this myself. Signs that seem to have an almost profound message related directly to my own life. It is a pretty amazing feeling.

Hi Palma, another great post. Being mindful is so much fun for me! I look for signs everywhere, everyday. From car tags to billboards to 18 wheelers. It’s amazing how you can think about something with a question in mind and then you look up and the answer is right there. I love it when this happens and it seems to happen to me all the time.

Hi Lisa, yes it is amazing how the Universe is ready to respond immediately, when we are open to it! The more it happens, the more we are truly in alignment. :-)

I read pretty much anything with words on it. I’m particularly entertained by the “-God” series of billboards, and by church signs with witticisms on them, even though I’m not Christian.

I think that watching for interesting and relevant tidbits in the world is a kind of augury, using seemingly random things to spark ideas or insights. It can be very useful if you know how to work with it.

Elizabeth, yes I agree. The interesting part of it, is that they are seemingly random, as you say. To the keen observer, the trained eye, they are there to be found, and have a subjective reason for being. Thank you!
