Atom by atom, we can have it all

Imagine owning a small device, the size of a microwave oven, that can create anything you can think of. With the push of a button, you can have a new pair of shoes, food, a new mobile phone, or anything of your liking. It sounds like science fiction, but it will soon be a reality, thanks to nanotechnology. The personal fabricator will build any object from the atom up.

There is no question that this will be quite an interesting machine. Being able to create food just by assembling atoms, could mean the end of famines if the device is used for noble intents. There would be unlimited abundance of all sorts of goods. In theory. Unless you have to enter a credit card number, and then select the product, much like PPV for television. Or if there will be a controlled supply of the building block materials required for the machine to work.

I have always wondered – if all solid matter is made of atoms, and at the subatomic level everything is energy – we could work at the energy level to produce certain types of matter. Maybe this is how Jesus multiplied bread and fish? If we knew how to manipulate energy and condense it to create specific solid matter, would it be possible to do it through mental powers, without the use of a device? From a spiritual perspective, I am wondering if this device could be equaled to the fast food of creation, without the need to do inner work.

Through the Law of Attraction we can manifest matter by attracting it into our experience, which requires an understanding of how our mind affects the outer world. Our thoughts and feelings have a vibrational output that will attract similar vibrations, but we don’t have the direct experience of assembling energy into atoms and molecules right there and then, like a personal fabricator would do for us. A positive unfolding could be that the new generations will realize at the experiential level that there is no scarcity in this Universe, and that the manifestation of matter is about creating patterns.

My question is, will there be any difference between matter that arises naturally, and matter that is duplicated by assembly? What about life force (chi, prana) for organic materials? I believe that a carrot grown in natural soil, following a natural growth rate, has something more than just the atoms that it is made of. Just like synthetic vitamins only resemble the original ones. From an energetic point of view, is molecular manufacturing a little bit like instant cloning? With such a handy device, we can all be little Gods.

The free online version of the book Engines of Creation – The Coming Era of Nanotechnology, by K. Eric Drexler, is a wonderful journey into the world of nanotechnology and its possible applications, as well as the implications for humanity.

To have any hope of understanding our future, we must understand the consequences of assemblers, disassemblers, and nanocomputers. They promise to bring changes as profound as the industrial revolution, antibiotics, and nuclear weapons all rolled up in one massive breakthrough. To understand a future of such profound change, it makes sense to seek principles of change that have survived the greatest upheavals of the past. They will prove a useful guide.

Nanotechnology will change the future of medicine and technological evolution. It will soon be a reality. If we work together, and overcome the possible dangers of molecular manufacturing, the potential for peace, abundance, health, and a clean environment, will help humankind solve many problems, and start a New Era. It is up to us to make the best of it.

Hi Palma. Nanotechnology does seem possible considering that atoms are the building blocks of our present “reality”. Unfortunately as with all new technology there seems to be a lot of evidence that it will be captured by the tiny elite minority of the world and then used for political manipulation at the expense of the majority. Our present world can easily produce enough food for everyone now. Uganda for example measures it’s topsoil in feet and has 4 growing seasons. It has been called the breadbasket of Africa. Sadly people have mismanaged it’s agricultural and it cannot feed itself. At present there is a Corporate war going on in the world to control the distribution of water. Unscrupulous people would take possession of our air if they could. “The rich will do anything for the poor except get off their backs.” (A quote I read somewhere.)

On the positive side perhaps such an incredible machine might be “The Invention” produced by the Collective Consciousness that shocks everyone into awareness that We hold all the Power and would act as a huge tipping point for Love and Empathy to become the Law of the Land. I’d like to think of such a machine in those terms.

Hi Marty – I completely agree with you. Nanotechnology will potentially be a multi-million dollar industry in the hands of the minority elite. Corporations are currently at work in the health and electronic applications of it. Famines are man made and this Planet could already easily feed everyone. The war on the distribution of water is a sign of a dark agenda. Even without a molecular fabricator, we already have all the resources.

My hope is also that this invention has been created by Collective Consciousness, as a way to shift everyone’s awareness into abundance and with no excuse for worldwide limitations. The timing seems about right, as humanity is also going through an energy shift. By the time the devices will be available, the Planet may be ready to make the best (and safe) use of it. I really hope so!

I think the problem with such a device would be that it would take us further and further away from nature’s balance. Famine doesn’t come from the rich minority controlling the world’s food and water supply it comes from the world having to many people. Think about it this way, there is already 9 billion people on this tiny planet, taking it’s resources from all of the other creatures inhabiting it. If famine wasn’t apart of earth equation then people would double, even triple that number in a matter of a few generation. Sure we would all be feed but how long until wars break out over other things, like a place to live, wood to make houses or to power such devices.

The world’s inequalities cannot be solved by such devices as they would in the long term make them worse. More food equals more people which in turn causes the need for more food and on and on. Unless of course your a star trek fan and think that colonization of other planets is the answer to our growing population. To which I answer, when would it stop?

abundance is the problem to which balance is the answer.

    • Palma says:

Hi Dale – You bring up some very important points.

I agree with you that such a device could take us away from nature’s balance, possibly because of a misuse of it (greed, power, lack of understanding of the natural laws), as much as I believe genetic engineering is doing.

As far as overpopulation, I strongly believe that it is a myth. We seem overpopulated because we are mostly concentrated in big cities. There are large uninhabited lands all over the Planet. A mathematical calculation has been made to show that overpopulation is a myth, and that the entire current world population could easily fit with a house and backyard in the State of Texas alone (sounds amazing, but the math is there to prove it! and even if population has grown from the original calculation, well we could now occupy just a little more than Texas, leaving plenty of room on the rest of the Planet).

Famines are a result of a misuse of resources, not lack of space. The Western world is plagued by obesity, while other countries starve. We use crops who could feed thousands, to feed cattle that can in turn only feed a few. And so on.

I completely agree that the world’s inequalities would not be solved by such devices, as long as the level of consciousness that has brought us to this situation is not radically changed. My hope is that such a device (despite the potential dangers for misuse) will act as a catalyst for a consciousness change, forcing us to a quantum leap from a scarcity mentality to a consciousness of abundance. Nature will always find a way to create balance, as collective consciousness launches new thought-forms to meet the new demand.

As much as I would have liked to become a Star Trek fan, I have only watched a few episodes of the series, far too late into the plot to get into it. Maybe one day I will get the chance to start from the very first episode. :-)

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that yes, currently the world is not overpopulated. I am also going to have to attribute that fact to famine and starvation. One would think that if everyone lived to the ripe old age of 90 and ate well they would most likely reproduce more. They website you linked makes a good argument towards saying a few people were wrong when they make exact calculations, but they say nothing about what would happen if the natural balance of live and death was to be thrown out of wack by say a “food machine.”

Also the reason I bring up star trek is that while I am not a fan a friend of mine told me the “history” of the star trek story. Apparently the Romulans (Spock’s people) gave the humans a device that could make food out of carbon. Which in turn gave them the ability to go out into space and explore and advance and what not.

I would love for humans to live outside the shackles of “humanity” but I think with our current state of mind (as far as the masses go) we would not be ready for such a device. Too many ways to exploit the power it would give to the rich minority.

        • Palma says:

Hi Dale – I see what you are saying. Of course, that website has not taken into account such a device, which was beyond their scope of demonstrating that we are not overpopulated and that there is room for plenty more. Such a device is a machine of the future (though near). I think that there is no need for a “food machine”, because the resources are already there, they are just being misused. But technological progress is inevitable and we will have to deal with such an “invention”.

As far as everyone living to a ripe old age and reproducing, ironically this is exactly what we need. The real concern is underpopulation, not overpopulation. There has been a tremendous increase in infertility rate, all over the world. If things don’t change, society will soon collapse, as there are not enough young people to support the aging population. There is a Washington Post article addressing this issue. I have also touched the topic in the post Children and the flow of shared reality.

We do need to reproduce more, having faith that Earth will find a balance while accommodating everyone living on the Planet. Apparently we are far away from having reached a peak yet, so there is room to go.

I agree that we are not ready for such a device. I believe that it will be implemented in households by 2050, and by then – due to energy and consciousness shifts – we will be ready. Or the timeline will move in another direction and the machine will not come to exist. If this makes sense.

I love it when a sentence seems to encapsulate an idea so well. “the manifestation of matter is about creating patterns”. Although I don’t understand HOW we do it, I totally resonate with the idea and know that we’ll have the AHA moment soon. Some 10 year old will figure it out and explain it to us :)

In terms of how the personal fabricators may be introduced and what they will ultimately mean for us… I feel it will follow a similar path as mobile wireless communication. Most of us still look at our Internet-ready cell phones and think “what a useful (external) technology”. But ultimately, mobile phones serve as a mirror of our innate inner communication technology: telepathy. As time passes, more of us are waking up to that and flexing our inner communication muscles. Also, at first, mobile devices were expensive (available only to the elite), not to mention clunky. Now everyone owns a phone, and our collective consciousness demands tiny earbuds so the technology isn’t so invasive. The tide is turning, and we are restoring our ability to communicate immediately & over long distances without external technology.

So when these devices become available, I can see that learning curve repeating itself but not being so steep. And even better, since it is a repeat lesson, I think group consciousness will more quickly accept our innate ability to create all matter… without external technology.

Thank you Palma, for another inspiring possibility to dream of :)

Hi Lauren – What a fantastic observation, that external technology is a mirror of our internal technology, acting as a catalyst to become aware of it! I so understand what you mean, thank you for bringing it up. :-)

Yes, the very young ones will figure it out, as they have come into a world where collective consciousness is more and more becoming aware of the creative power of our thoughts, and deepens the understanding of energy patterns.

When we realize why it happens, it’s only a matter of how. In a way, being able to create a machine that can do it, implies having already that ability from within.

Any thoughts to share?
